Counselling Services

Counselling sessions include 50 minutes of talk therapy. This leaves 10 minutes for note taking as well as review of notes for the following client. In some cases session may go over time and it rare instances start a bit late.

Individual Counselling

I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing on several evidence-based interventions to tailor my approach to each client's unique needs. As a result, sessions may look different depending on the individual and what they hope to achieve through therapy.

For some clients, therapy may involve a more structured approach that includes exploring specific interventions, understanding the rationale behind them, and practicing skills between sessions. For others, therapy may begin with creating a compassionate and supportive space to feel heard, understood, and accepted.

Regardless of the approach we take, I regularly seek feedback from my clients because I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative. Your experience, comfort, and perspective are essential in shaping a therapeutic approach that feels meaningful and supportive for you.

My Approach/ How Therapy Works

What to Expect

The first session looks different for each client but some common outcomes are:

  • Getting comfortable with your therapist

  • Understanding what brings you to therapy

  • Discussing your goals

  • A chance to tell your story

Main Evidence based Interventions that inform my practice:

Person-Centred Therapy

The relationship comes first. You are the expert on your own life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Exploring connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Identifying strengths and creating practical steps forward.

Emotion-Focused Approaches

Understanding emotions and the needs behind them.
